After giving birth, many mom's find themselves in a rut, they are so preoccupied with feeding, burping and changing nappies that they forget about their own 'me time'. One thing I can say about myself is that even though I am busy all day, everyday, I still try my best to dress up and do my hair and make-up. Obviously I don't have the amount of time as I did pre-baby for all the curls and smokey eyes but I must admit I don't do too bad with the little time that I do have to get ready. Although many things have had to take a back seat since Rafael came along and that's my love for my beautiful DIY nail art, I still can't believe how many hours I used to spend painting those intricate designs on my nails, almost weekly! That is why when I heard my friend from my favourite Sorbet was hosting a Summer Trends talk morning I signed up immediately! I couldn't think of a better way to spend some time with fellow nail obsessed ladies learning all about the hottest summer trends.
Obviously I was running late, that's something that my family and friends have had to get used to lately #MommyProblems so after getting myself and Rafael in the car, I made it just in time.
The breakfast was hosted at the Harrisa Bristo restaurant in The Club where we were spoilt with great hospitality and a mouthwatering three course breakfast!
After Janine from Sorbet shared all the hottest products from Sorbet, she organised two guest speakers who indulged us in their knowledge. Inbloom Studio who gave us some styling tips and Izabelle Hammon who shared all the latest in nail art decals.

Sorbet
With Summer coming in hot and fast, the trend of bright nails is burning bright! with bright pinks, oranges and greens all taking center stage. One of the brands presented was the new 'Hello Pretty' range by Morgan Taylor in both nail lacquer and gelish! After seeing these colours first hand, they really do pack a punch, now if only my pale skin could handle such bright colours, I would have been sporting them, like yesterday! You can pick up these polishes at any retailer for approximately R123 each or just have them done at your nearest Sorbet store.
Another item that we got to try out was the Pro Illuminating tweezer by La-tweez! Now what girl doesn't always have a tweezer handy, and if not for grooming, I know there are a dozens other uses for a good pair. These babies are an all in one, tweezer, mini spotlight and if you try hard enough you can even use the lid as a mini mirror *although I wouldn't recommend it* so don't go blaming me if your eyebrows are uneven. Not only do they come in the most beautiful summer pastels, they fit comfortably in your hands for even the most precise jobs. This baby will set you back about R320.
These were just two of the products showcased, another item was the new Vinylux polish, it goes on just like a polish but like its cousin Gelish, it has a 1 week durability, and the best part, there is no soaking or scrubbing, just wipe it off like a normal polish, now that sounds good to me.
Izabelle Hammon
Now this was right up my alley! I love my nail art, and I am one of those poor patient souls that would actually sit and paint my own nail art by hand! Obviously someone found the easy way out and just created decals to simply stick onto each nail, saving loads of DIY time. Izabelle Hammon has an incredible range of decals, ranging from lace to glitter. Some of the hottest trends right now include geometrics, florals and metallic stripes to name a few. The best part is they stick flush onto your nails, so you don't have to worry about them peeling after a few hours. You can view all their designs on their website www.izabellehammon.com and have them done at your favourite Sorbet store.
In Bloom
Madeline from In Bloom spoke to us about latest trends she has in her boutique store as well as how she styles her clients. Being an image consultant myself, I always enjoy listening to other consultants share their knowledge, and silently rate them in my mind. In short the best thing a woman can do for her wardrobe is to determine her body shape and to buy clothes that suit their body type, this way you do not need to have a huge wardrobe of many items, but a few staples that you can mix and match to make the perfect outfit, especially when it comes to those special occasions like weddings, why have the stress of still having to buy the prefect outfit when you know you already have it in your closet.
All in all I had an enjoyable morning, and I thank Janine from Sorbet the Club for organizing these breakfast mornings where we get to unwind, eat some good food, listen to the insightful topics and get our nails painted and topped off with the creative Decor It decals. Sometimes a mommy just needs to plan a time for herself and get some pampering, and even though I did bring Rafael with me, I was smart enough to invited my mom to join me as added 'granny' support.
